The textbook contains coherently designed material for mastering basic and advanced methods of playing the bass guitar in the most widespread Afro-Cuban styles using the tumbao rhythm, in other Afro-Cuban styles such as cha-cha-chá, songo, timba, in Brazilian styles such as samba, partido alto, baiao, choro and afoxé, in South American styles such as calypso, merengue, reggae, joropo, pajarillo, gaita, zamba, chacarera, lando and festejo, as well as in the Latin jazz style. The publication consists primarily of 65 recordings of songs with a full band, transcriptions of their bass guitar parts, instructional texts and other additional notated examples. The materials presented are of extremely high quality and inspiring in every way, and will sufficiently prepare those interested in mastering bass guitar playing in various styles of Latin music for practice.
