Prienik jazzu do rôznych žánrov a subkultúr

Jazz ako univerzálny hudobný fenomén ovplyvnil niekoľko generácii a stále má schopnosť oslovovať nových poslucháčov a hudobníkov. Jazzová hudba bola vo svojich začiatkoch, okrem rôznych prejavov európskej tanečnej hudby, jediným žánrom populárnej hudby v podobe hot dance music a swingu.

The syntheses of jazz and rock music in Slovakia have had their own specific development. This paper illustrates the historical development of Slovakian jazzrock and fusion music and its parallels and differences compared with such styles in the Czech Republic, world music and music of American provenance. The author aims to answer questions about the definitions of jazzrock and fusion music related to their stages of development within the history of non-classical music in Slovakia. By musical analysis of selected and transcribed compositions, the author points out the significant style-forming elements in jazzrock and fusion music.

Hudobné vysielanie Slovenského rozhlasu v období 2. svetovej vojny

Research on radio broadcasting between 1939 and 1945 in Slovakia unearths an order of the Propaganda Office that only German composers should be broadcast and the music of Jewish, Russian and Czech composers avoided. The main focus of the music department of Slovak radio was propagation of Slovak national music. Despite the taboo, director and composer Alexander Moyzes was able to ‘smuggle’ into the programme the music of Russian and Czech composers and those of Jewish origin such as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Approximately 34% of music broadcast was that of Slovak composers and 66% that of international composers. German music broadcasting decreased in 1945, from the original preferences of 61%-67% during 1940-45 broadcasting rate decreased to 6.8% in 1945. On the other hand, Czech and Russian music recorded an increase in broadcasting: the former from the original 10 to 13% (1940-45) to 48% (1945) and the latter from the original 10 to 15% (1940-45) to 24% (1945).
